How To Commit To Movement.

Motivation can be an elusive little bugger. Hard to find and even harder to keep.

We've all been there, you're booked in for an arvo class but suddenly the couch is feeling like a much better option. Firstly, couch time is essential! Secondly, it's not you, but maybe it's your approach to movement in general.

Here are our tips for falling in love with your movement practice.

ASK YOURSELF WHY?

Why do you want to move? It could be as simple as the mental clarity that comes with a good sweat. Or maybe you want to build strength and endurance. Whatever your reason is, it's valid. And you can use it to ground your practice. Write down your 'Why' and come back to it when you're feeling a bit meh. (P.S. it's ok for your 'Why' to change over time!)

CHOOSE SOMETHING YOU LOVE

This is the fun part! Once you know why you want to move, you can use it to figure out how you want to move. Try new things and reflect on how they make you feel, you might be surprised by what sparks joy and what doesn't.

FIND YOUR RHYTHM

You are what you repeatedly do. So set yourself a goal to make movement a loveable little ritual. A run and a dip in the ocean pair nicely together. So do pilates and a strong coffee.

REST UP

You absolutely need to rest! There's no shame in skipping a workout for a stroll in nature or ditching your run for some couch time. When rituals turn into strict routines it's hard to feel excited about anything let alone moving your body. Take a damn break and go at your own pace.
